How we help our
COMMUNITIES

For over 145 years, we’ve looked for ways to strengthen communities, particularly ones we call home like Camden, New Jersey. And by 2020, our goal is to measurably improve the health of young people by reducing childhood obesity and hunger.

We will also continue our work to minimize our impact on the environment. We know that the small choices we make every day, where our ingredients are farmed or the packaging we use, add up to make a big difference over time.

Here are a few things we are proud of:

  • 14,100 hours volunteered by our employees in one year
  • $50 million of food donated to organizations such as Feeding America
  • 28,000 hours of nutrition education in the Camden, NJ community for children and adults
  • 107,000 hours of physical activity  for Camden, NJ community youth
  • $1.8 million in grants to nonprofit community service organizations from the Campbell Soup Foundation
SUSTAINABILITY

We work hard to reuse, reduce and recycle. Our goal is to cut the environmental footprint of our portfolio – defined as water and greenhouse gas emissions per tonne of product – by 50 percent by 2020. Learn more about our our progress.

Reduce energy use by 35 percent and source 40 percent of our electricity from renewable or alternative energy sources
Recycle 95 percent of waste generated globally
Eliminate 100 million pounds of packaging from Campbell products, a goal we have already met. We are working to develop a new target.
Derive 100 percent of our global packaging materials from renewable, recyclable or recycled resources
Invest in more renewable energy projects, including solar power and waste-to-energy biogas, fueled by composting organic waste

SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

Meet Ronnie Abrams from Shamong, New Jersey. He grows carrots and potatoes for our pilot plant in Camden, New Jersey, just like his father and grandfather before him.

We work with farmers like Ronnie through our Sustainable Agriculture Program, which builds on more than 145 years of practicing responsible management of agricultural resources.

Through the program we partner with contract farms to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, minimize water use, reduce reliance on fertilizer and pesticides, and improve soil quality.
