The majority of the tomatoes are grown in California, by farmers who’ve been growing Campbell’s tomatoes for generations.

Do any of your sauces contain red dye number 40?

Do any of your sauces contain red dye number 40?

No, the red of our sauces comes mainly from tomatoes and vegetables.  We use this coloring in a handful of V8 Splash beverages, but are currently working to remove it.  We’ve committed to remove artificial colors from our North American products by 2018.

Can you tell me if your products contain unsustainable palm oil?

Can you tell me if your products contain unsustainable palm oil?

We purchase only 100 percent certified sustainably-sourced palm oil for the food we make and sell in the U.S. In Australia, our Arnott’s biscuit company uses 100% segregated, certified sustainable and traceable palm oil. We are continuing to work to source only 100 percent certified sustainably-sourced palm oil across our entire global portfolio by the end of 2016. Campbell and our palm oil suppliers are members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).

Are your chickens free range? Do they have antibiotics?

Are your chickens free range? Do they have antibiotics?

We are just starting to transition to using chickens that have been raised without antibiotics. This will take a few years, but we’re working hard with our chicken suppliers to ensure this happens as quickly as possible.  We currently do not use free-range chicken in our products.

Are your eggs cage free?

Are your eggs cage free?

By 2025 we will use only cage-free eggs.  As we transition to using this chicken, we will work with our suppliers to ensure the birds are raised and cared for humanely.

We have removed partially hydrogenated oils from almost all of our products and are working to remove oils such as partially hydrogenated soybean oil from a handful of products as quickly as possible.

Why does Campbell’s put MSG in their soup?

Why does Campbell’s put MSG in their soup?

MSG is added in small quantities to give food a savory flavor.  It’s a naturally occurring amino acid.  The MSG we use is made by fermenting cane or beet molasses.  We make hundreds of different soups for different tastes and preferences.  Some people would prefer to avoid MSG, which is why we make a selection of products without it and, moving forward, will work to develop more new products that don’t use it.

Is there any BPA in this can?

Is there any BPA in this can?

BPA is used in our can linings and the inside of the metal lids on jars.  We’re in the process of removing it from our packaging and replacing it with either polyester or acrylic linings.  We should be done by mid-2017.

Do you use GMO ingredients?

Do you use GMO ingredients?

We use ingredients that are made from the four crops that use GMO seeds.  These crops are: canola, corn, soy and sugar beet.  In the U.S. more than 90 percent of these crops are grown from GM seeds which the FDA and others leading regulators have proven to be safe.  Ingredients from them are also found in around 75 percent of foods, so they are widely used.  Because people want to know if we use GM ingredients we’ve committed to adding GMO labels to our packs.
